Bay to Bermagui Run

Bay to Bermagui run On Saturday, 18 July 2009 the Classic and Vintage Motor Club of Eurobodalla (or CVMCE for short!) held their biennual Bay to Bermagui Run. The event, established in 2005, attracts classic and vintage car owners from across NSW. There were 137 entrants for this year's event: about twice the number of cars and motorbikes as in 2007. The weather was magnificent with clear blue sky and no wind, showing off the beautiful beaches, lakes, inlets and villages between Batemans Bay and Bermagui.

The top car of the event was a 1956 Jaguar XK 150 S from Canberra. Best Car and Passengers & Peoples Choice was a 1929 Studebaker Regal from the Sapphire Coast Club, best bike was a very old BSA from the Shoalhaven club. There were lots of other highlights.

The presentation dinner was attended by 220 people who sat down to an excellent 3 course meal at the Coachouse Marinea Resort on Saturday night. Professor John Thompson gave a short and at times humourous address on cars, melanoma and funds for vital research. He and Barbara joined those remaining participants on Sunday morning for bacon & egg roll brunch before heading home. The club felt honoured by John Thompson's presence. As organiser Geoff Rose acknowledges, "his spare time is precious."

Once again in 2009, all proceeds of the event were donated to The Melanoma Foundation. At the end of the day, with proceeds from entries, donations from individuals and local business, raffles and an auction, the CVMCE was able to donate more that $5500 to the Foundation. The Foundation thanks the CVMCE for their ongoing support.
